Patrice is a gifted orator, particularly astute at motivating people to want to—and believe they can—change their lives and the lives of others for the better. But she is also adept at fashioning speeches around themes for awards, luncheons and conferences. She speaks at churches, women’s retreats, professional enrichment weekends and prisons. Every speech is peppered with humorous, homespun stories that deliver subtle spiritual messages and each speech encourages listeners to believe in the power we have as human beings to create the kind of life and world we want.
Sample of Speech Topics:
Patrice tells the story of her life in a way that emphasizes the capacity of human beings to change. Though her story is one that includes drug use, a stint in jail, rape and abuse, it is ultimately a journey we all must take in some way from self-hatred to self-love, a story that prompts all listeners to reflect and analyze their own lives and thoughts.
THE POWER OF WOMEN:
A speech offering history and attitude. This speech focuses on what women have contributed to our history—physically and spiritually. It sparks us all to recognize that our differences are a plus rather than a minus; adding flavor and perspective that enhance life experiences for everyone.
COLORED… NEGRO…BLACK… AFRICAN-AMERICAN…HUMAN:
Patrice offers a history lesson using her own experiences and those of her family. She was born “colored,” grew up Negro, became Black and is now African-American. What she strives for is to simply be “Human” in a world obsessed with labels.
Patrice also delivers speeches on restorative justice, prison reform, the disproportionate minority incarceration rate in America and issues surrounding the incarceration of women. She leads interactive workshops on writing as a means of healing; forgiveness, and “Creating Change in Your Life.”
